History
The camp prisoners under "Strzałkowo" - were created at the turn of 1914 and 1915 years the German POW camp from the fronts of World War I, since 1919 Polish POW camp and internment camp.
The camp was located on the border of two of the partitioning powers - the German Empire and the Russian Empire - the road connecting the two border villages: Strzałkowo on the Prussian side and SŁUPCA the Russian side (currently National Road No. 92). After the end of World War actions were taken to its liquidation, but due to the outbreak of the Polish-Bolshevik war, from May 12, 1919 he began work as a camp for prisoners of the Red Army. On July 11, 1919 order of the Ministry of Military Affairs was named POW camp No. 1 in the sagittal. The ceasefire in the Polish-Bolshevik War entered into force on 18 October 1920 year. After the entry into force of the ceasefire camp was transformed into a place of detention of persons interned, including soldiers of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
Eventually, the camp ceased to function Aug. 31, 1924 year.
At the POW camp was located a cemetery.
Password "Strzałkowo" happens today propaganda often used by Russia as a response to Polish demands to punish those guilty of the Katyn massacre as part of a propaganda action Anti-Katyn. Most of the prisoners, which rests in the cemetery in prison Strzalkow died due to epidemic typhus.


Present time

The idea behind the study and regulation of the cemetery was Zdzislaw Jacaszek- Vice President. For several years, he invites volunteers from different countries participate in this project.


For the second time on 28 July - 2 August they held workshops History - Archaeology project War Cemetery Camp Prisoners and Internees 1914-1921 Strzałkowo lie. The workshop participants were young people from Kiev Ukrainian and Russian from Bryansk. Students of the Departament of History of Ukraine and museology of Kiev National University of Culture and Arts and i Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, with young researchers: Dr. Sergei Taranienko and Sergei Chernyshov under the direction of Mr. Krzysztof Gorczyca District Museum in Konin conducted research documenting the burials in the cemetery. This year's work was a continuation of last year's activities of an international group of volunteers. Young neighbors against the zwaśnionym countries could find common ground for the goal, which is to restore the proper rank of the cemetery dating back 100 years. In the past the local cemetery dealt with local governments. To achieve this goal we won a very good patron, a man with those parts of the former Starosta Słupecki currently Envoy of the Parliament of the Republic of Polish-Vice-Marshal of the Sejm Mr. Eugeniusz Grzeszczak. The mayor joined not only his authority but actually achieving this goal. What made this season? Well, unveiled the entire alley entrance to the cemetery, laid out part of the main alleys, found place setting of the cross in the burials from the period 1919 - ???? 1921 as well as the place where she stood a cemetery chapel. They made a new cross, which devoted priests: Orthodox and Catholic. Youth wants to bring common fact in this place the sign of their faith, dedicated to the deceased buried there was a testament to their intentions and our reconciliation. Therefore they ask the Governor of Wielkopolska for authorization to its place there.
At the meeting the participants of the workshop in the Museum District exchanged ideas how to further continue its work and to popularize the idea. Participating in the meeting Head of the Department of History and Museology of the State University of Culture and Arts of Kyiv Mrs. Olena Goncharova assured that the Department, which directs the switch on the preparation and then the implementation of the project under the working title "Virtual Museum Strzałkowo live." We are looking for other collaborators.
Participants were also Sławomir Lorek Deputy Mayor of Konin and Director of the Regional Museum Lech Stefaniak. Mr. Lorek providing students with memorabilia from Konin expressed his appreciation for their involvement in the development of good neighborly relations with us.
